Employment

For more information about employment opportunities please complete a request for service here.

The Ulster County Office of Employment and Training (OET) is committed to providing residents with every opportunity to find a job or career to lead a self-supporting life.  Training in various career opportunities, such as HVAC, Commercial Driving, Certified Nursing Assistant, or Surgical Technician can be funded through our office to those who meet certain eligibility criteria.

Those who wish to find a job as an Ulster County employee can research available opportunities on the Personnel Department website.  Most County jobs require a civil service exam, which produces a list of eligible candidates that may be interviewed for open positions.  Details on civil service exams may also be found on the Personnel Department website.

Priority of Service is offered to Veterans -- meaning those who served will be seen by the first available OET employee and veterans will receive first priority for jobs and training for which they are eligible and qualified.  Veterans who wish to take civil service exams for County jobs will have the fees waived upon proof of service with Honorable or Other than Honorable Discharge.

For more information about this and other County programs, contact the Ulster County Service Center (845) 443-8888 or ulstercountyserves.com.
